Seest Thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him. Proverbs 29:20

Big People monopolize the listening. Small people monopolize the talking.

A woman complained that she was coming down with the flu, so her husband took her to the doctor. Immediately, the doctor thrust a thermometer in her mouth and said, "Sit there quietly for five minutes." The woman did as she was told.

The husband was astonished and fascinated. When the doctor returned to the examining room, he pointed with enthusiasm to the thermometer and said, "Doc, how much will you take for that thing?"

Listeneing is truly a fine art, and one greatly to be cultivated as a personal trait. Those who have the ability to listen are truly valuable.

A man was considered an expert in staging sales seminars. As his new assistant was helping him set up the stage for a presentation, he gave him this advice: "One temptation I must warn you against is this: as you are conducting a meeting you will often find people disagree with some of your ideas. You may see someone shaking his head negatively as you speak. No, the natural thing for you to do is take out after that person and try to convince him further that you are right. Don't do it. The chances are he is the only person listening to you!"
